Tata stocks soar as ₹15K-cr Tata Capital IPO sparks investor frenzy!

 

Tata Group companies shares recently experienced significant gains on December 24, 2024, following reports that Tata Capital unveils its plan to raise ₹15,000 crore through an initial public offering (IPO). The offering is expected to comprise a mix of primary and secondary share sales. 

 

Individual Stock Performances

 

Tata Investment Corporation Ltd was the key driving force of the advance, with its stock rising11.83% intraday to a high of ₹7,305/share. Other notable gainers included Tata Chemicals, which increased by 3.99%  to ₹ 1,076.20 and Tata Motors up 2.51% to ₹ 740.70. Tata Elxsi and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) also saw gains, reaching ₹7,010.00 and ₹4,217.30 with an increase of 1.60% and 1.45%, respectively. Tata Power, Tata Consumer Products and Tata Communications also posted a moderate growth. However, the shares of Tata Steel declined by 1.05% to ₹140.20 per share. 

 

Tata Capital's Strategic Move

 

Tata Capital, the flagship financial service arm of the Tata Group and a subsidiary of Tata Sons Private Limited is functioning as a Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC). Multibagger stock is the financial sector’s step forward as the IPO targets to collect ₹15,000 crore. This development comes on the heels of the successful IPO of Tata Technologies in November 2024, which started trading at a 140% premium to the issue price of ₹ 500.

Overall, 2024 has been a phenomenal year for India’s IPO market, adding nearly 3% (₹14 trillion) to the country’s market capitalization by new listings, a significant increase from 2023, contributing only 1.4% or ₹5 trillion. IPO fundraising jumped to ₹1.8 trillion, almost 3 times ₹57,600 crore in 2023. Other IPOs this year include Hyundai Motor India (₹27,860 crore), Swiggy (₹11,330 crore), NTPC Green (₹10,000 crore), and Vishal Mega Mart (₹8,000 crore).
