Shubman Gill has been ruled out of the India vs South Africa 2nd Test, as his neck injury has been diagnosed to require a longer recovery time through medical tests. BCCI Update Confirms Travel But Not Availability

The BCCI stated, “Shubman has been responding well to the medical treatment provided and will travel to Guwahati with the team on 19th November, 2025.” He was spotted at the airport without neck support, which indicates progress, but doctors believe he needs around a week before he starts full training. Early neck exercises are expected to begin on Thursday, putting him in line for a possible ODI return on November 30.

Leadership Shift Adds Pressure As India Seeks Series Revival

Shubman Gill's neck injury leaves the regular captain's stability from India, forcing a quick change before an important game. Pant's return to captaincy will mean that there is some comfort, but the team will still have to get used to different combinations, and the pressure will be increasing.

Compared with previous injury-led transitions, this one carries added weight due to the series deficit. The upcoming Test will not only determine the winner of the series but also influence India's tactics for the upcoming weeks.
