Hollywood loses Gene Hackman and wife Betsy Arakawa

 

Eugene Allen Hackman, also known as Gene Hackman, aged 95, and his wife Betsy Arakawa, a classical musician, 65, were found dead last night, as per reports. The bodies were first discovered by a maintenance worker when he arrived for his routine work. A local TV station reported that police were unable to identify the bodies until 12:30 am on Thursday.
 
Authorities from the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the discovery on Wednesday afternoon. “Foul play is not suspected,” says the ongoing investigation. However, the cause of death remains pending.

The reports have also mentioned that one of their dogs was also found dead, while the other two survived.

 

A life out of the spotlight... Who was Gene Hackman

 

Hackman’s career spanned decades, featuring iconic roles in “The French Connection” in 1971, “The Conversation” in 1974, and “Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut.” His presence and all-round talent made him one of Hollywood’s most celebrated actors.
Betsy Arakawa is a concert pianist and co-founder of a home furnishing business.

He got married to Betsy Arakawa in 1991 and maintained a relatively private life in their Santa Fe home. Betsy helped Gene Hackman decorate the Santa Fe home, and she was the stepmother for Gene’s three children from the previous marriage.


 Authorities are actively investigating

 

Sheriff’s arrived at the Santa Fe County gated community called Old Sunset Trail on Wednesday afternoon to investigate. Gene was in the entryway, and Betsy was lying on her right side in the bathroom near a space heater. Also, an open prescription bottle with pills was found lying near Betsy Arakawa.
 
The news has been met with shock due to the nature of the finding of the bodies.

Gene Hackman’s daughters and granddaughter released a statement confirming the deaths: “always just Dad and Grandpa.”
 
George Takei posted: “Gene Hackman could play anyone, and you could feel a whole life behind it. He will be missed, but his work will live on forever.”
 
To determine the circumstances and causes of their deaths, the investigation is ongoing while foul play is not suspected.
