Turning back the clock, Tendulkar made a knock of 64 runs in just 33 balls
The legendary cricketer and former Member of Rajya Sabha Sachin Tendulkar is leading Team India in the ongoing International Masters League happening in the BCA Stadium in Vadodara.
The stadium held its breath, a collective, dusty sigh. After a protracted period, he marked the reclaimed spotlight with a performance of exceptional caliber.
There he was, the vintage Tendulkar, setting a score of a dazzling 64 runs in just 33 balls, reaching a half-century in the International Masters League on Wednesday.
Despite the chase, India slumped into a 95-run loss in the tournament. Sachin Tendulkar played his innings with four sixes and seven fours, and thus the crowd was left enthralled by him.
Back in the Day
In a recent video post on X, formerly Twitter, Tendulkar shared his memory of Vadodara and his experience of playing at the venue.
“First came here as a 14-year-old with the Mumbai Ranji Team... now back in Vadodara for the IML! Different journey, same love for cricket!”
Sachin made his debut in the Ranji Trophy for Bombay (now Mumbai) at the age of 15 against Gujarat on December 11, 1988.
Playing in his home ground, he scored a spectacular century, making himself the youngest Indian to score a hundred on his first-class debut.
The Tournament
In the International Masters League, the India Masters sits at the top, winning three matches against Sri Lanka, England, and South Africa. However, it was challenging to meet the desired rate, and as a result, India suffered its first tournament defeat.
The Aussies put up a massive score of 269/1, largely due to an extraordinary partnership between Ben Dunk and Shane Watson. Dunk remained not out with a scintilating 132 off merely 53 deliveries. Meanwhile, Shane Watson also managed to get to 110 runs in just 52 balls.
Xavier Doherty’s five-wickets-haul helped Australia Masters win the match by 95 runs.
The Maestro
Despite the strong Australian performance, Sachin Tendulkar showcased his enduring talent, scoring an impressive half-century. However, his efforts were not enough to secure a victory for India.
Leaving this aside, many fans across the country have reacted to Tendulkar’s heroics.
Some shared snippets of the match, captioning the X post as, “SACHIN TENDULKAR AT THE AGE OF 51 IN IMLT20.” Others were thrilled; they saw Sachin Tendulkar with the bat after so many years of retirement playing cricket, which made their day.
