RCB’s Sports Summit Insights Shape New Vision for India’s Sporting Future
Indian Premier League (IPL) team, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) presented its Sports-Forward Nation report to Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, as well as Labour and Employment. The presentation, which concluded last week also involved Amitabh Kant, the G20 Sherpa of the Government of India. The report is a joint effort by RCB and the Sports and Society Accelerator to highlight India’s hopes and capabilities in the worldwide sporting arena.
The report contents are based on insights collected through the RCB Indian Sports Summit, held in November 2023. Regarding ways to bolster India’s sporting ecosystem, this event brought together policymakers, athletes and thought leaders.
Amitabh Kant Proposes India’s Olympic Dream
The keynote speaker at the event was Amitabh Kant. India was rapidly transforming into a sporting nation, he added, underlining the country’s desire to host the 2036 Olympic Games. “India has the potential to establish itself as a global sporting powerhouse,” Kant stated, adding that collaborative efforts from all stakeholders are essential to achieving this goal.
RCB’s efforts to help drive conversations on sports development in India are also evident in the report presentation to Kant and Mandaviya. The franchise seeks to meaningfully engage with leaders who could shape the course of national policy discussions on sports.
Official Launch Scheduled for February 3
An official launch of the Sports-Forward Nation report is scheduled for February 3, 2025, in Bengaluru. The integration of sports into India’s broader social and economic framework is one of RCB’s ongoing efforts and this publication is an important step. It aims to offer practical prescriptions for better infrastructure, starter grassroots projects, and private sector investment in sports.
