PM Modi Japan Visit Today: Gets Traditional Rajasthani Welcome, Praises Artists
PM Modi received a heartfelt traditional welcome in Japan on 28 August 2025. Japanese women clad in traditional Rajasthani outfits folded their hands in Namaste and said “Padharo Mhare Des,” which means “Welcome to my country”.
Cultural Performance for PM Modi in Japan
One of the Japanese artists who performed in front of PM Modi said, "It was such a great chance to perform for Prime Minister Modi. I am very happy. I performed Mohiniyattam, a classical dance form from South India.”
She also added that, “I have more than 25 years of experience. This dance is an individual dance form, but for Prime Minister Modi, we made it a group performance."
A woman artist from the group sang the Indian song, “Vaari Jaavu Re”. Her performance touched the prime minister’s heart and was applauded. Another group of women artists performed dance styles belonging to Indian culture, such as Mohiniyattam, Bharatnatyam, Odissi, and Kathak.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Visit to Japan
Prime Minister of Japan, Shigeru Ishiba, had invited Prime Minister Modi to attend the 15th India-Japan Annual Summit. The traditional welcome of the Indian Prime Minister happened just before the key bilateral talks in Tokyo.
PM Modi said that the key agenda of his Japan visit is to grow special strategic and global partnerships. He also emphasized that there has been steady progress over the past 11 years. Additionally, he regarded this visit as an opportunity to promote India’s National interests and allow global peace and security.
Japanese Indian Community Commended by PM Modi
PM Modi also praised the Indian community living in Japan for embracing Japanese culture while not forgetting their own cultural roots.
He shared his thoughts on X regarding the Indian community in Japan, “Deeply touched by the warmth and affection of the Indian community here in Tokyo. Their commitment to preserving our cultural roots while contributing meaningfully to Japanese society is truly commendable.”
PM Modi visited Japan to participate in the 15th India-Japan Annual Summit after receiving an invitation from the Japanese Prime Minister, Shigeru Ishiba. The visit had several other agendas, including promoting economic security, exploring innovative technologies, defence cooperation, and more.
