Following the brutal terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives, the Indian Government initiated a broad sweep against Pakistani nationals in India. Union Minister Amit Shah, during a top-level meeting on Friday, instructed all state governments to locate and deport all Pakistani citizens who are presently in their territories.

The highest authorities have confirmed that the Chief Secretaries of every state and Union Territory have been instructed to initiate immediate verification of Long-Term Visa (LTV) holders and proceed with cancellation, followed by immediate deportation.

All Visas Canceled, Border Sealed

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has directed that all visas granted to Pakistani citizens be canceled with effect from April 27. A 48-hour grace period was given to those holding medical visas, after which they will also have to leave the country.

This is part of a five-pronged counter-offensive against Pakistan revealed by the government after Monday’s attack. It includes sealing off the Attari-Wagah border, declaring senior Pakistani diplomats persona non grata, and suspending the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT), the most important water-sharing treaty to have survived three decades of warfare.

Lashkar Proxy Behind Bloodbath in Pahalgam

The Pakistan-backed Lashkar-e-Taiba proxy, the Resistance Front (TRF), took responsibility for the Pahalgam massacre. Five automatic gun-wielding gunmen indiscriminately fired on tourists and pony handlers at Baisaran Valley. Terrifying videos uploaded online demonstrate terrorists killing male victims while sparing women. When one attacker mocked a woman, he allegedly asked her to ‘go tell Modi.’

Among the victims was a young Navy officer on his honeymoon, whose killing has sparked nationwide outrage. Intelligence inputs suggest the attackers were operating under direct instructions from Lashkar chief Hafiz Saeed and his aide Saifullah, both believed to be in Pakistan.

Diplomatic Offensive Gains Momentum

India has informed top envoys of seven major powers, including the US, UK, France, Germany, Russia, Italy, and China, providing what officials characterize as ‘conclusive evidence’ of Pakistan’s role.

As a response, Pakistan has blocked its airspace for Indian airlines and suspended the Shimla Agreement, calling India’s decision to suspend the Indus Water Treaty ‘an act of war.’

India Will Punish Every Terrorist: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing a rally in Bihar, issued a warning to Pakistan and the rest of the world. “From the land of Bihar, I am announcing to the world, India will identify and punish each terrorist, and their masterminds,” he stated.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh seconded the sentiment, assuring a ‘strong and appropriate response’ to both those who carried out the attack and to those who were behind the planning from the shadows.

Border Vigil Tightened, Intelligence Coordination Boosted

As tension mounted, India strengthened its 3,323-km border with Pakistan. Officials maintain that more troops have been stationed, fencing strengthened, and floodlights and surveillance mechanisms improved. Intelligence-sharing mechanisms have also been tightened to stop further infiltration.

“This is a make-or-break moment,” said an official. “We are adopting a multi-layered security approach that gives no space for concession.”
