edwsgOwaisi mocks Pakistan’s failed propaganda with a fake military victory image

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday severely condemned Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and General Asim Munir. The  Pakistani Prime Minister and Army Chief were referred to as ‘stupid jokers’ for circulating a bogus memento celebrating a fictional military victory.

The memento was said to be connected with Pakistan’s so-called Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos, a response claim against India’s Operation Sindoor.

Fake Memento Containing Photo of Chinese Drill

The hotly debated souvenir, which General Munir gifted PM Sharif at a top-level event, had a painting. This painting was stated to show Pakistan’s military victory over India. But fact-checks came out and found that the picture was almost identical to photos from a 2019 Chinese military exercise. The event was graced by Pakistan’s top brass, President Asif Ali Zardari and Deputy Prime Minister-cum-Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.

While speaking to the Indian community in Kuwait during a diplomatic gesture in the aftermath of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, Owaisi mocked the Pakistani leadership for distributing fake imagery.

“These fools want to compete with India. They provided a picture of a 2019 Chinese People’s Liberation Army drill, posing it as a victory over India. They cannot even provide a good picture as a gift,” he said.

Copying Requires Intelligence

Scoffing at the propaganda machine in Pakistan, Owaisi quipped, “We used to be told in childhood that ‘nakal karne ke liye akal chahiye’ (Intelligence is required to copy). In nalayako ke pass toh akal bhi nahi hai (These useless people do not even have brains).”

The Hyderabad MP has been critical of Pakistan’s role in terror attacks against India. After the April 22 terror strike in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, India conducted precision strikes under Operation Sindoor on May 7 against terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Pakistan’s Pattern of Misinformation

This is not the first time Pakistan has been found spreading false narratives. On 15 May, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar read out from a doctored front page of the UK’s The Daily Telegraph in Parliament to extol the Pakistan Air Force (PAF). Dawn, a newspaper from Pakistan, tore apart the viral story crowning the PAF as ‘Undisputed Kings of the Skies’ with gross inconsistencies in language and factual inaccuracies.

Having carried out the fact-checking, Dawn had stated, “There is no such article published by The Daily Telegraph.”

Bungled Retaliation Post Operation Sindoor

After India’s strikes, Pakistan launched retaliatory raids on Indian military facilities between May 8 to 10. Islamabad said it caused ‘major damage,’ but New Delhi rejected the claims as spurious and part of an ongoing propaganda drive.

Owaisi’s remarks have added to growing domestic and international criticism of Pakistan’s deceptive tactics and its failure to credibly counter India’s counter-terror initiatives.
