Liverpool and Portugal striker Diogo Jota has passed away following a devastating car accident in Spain. He was 28 years old. Spanish officials attested that Jota and his 26-year-old brother, Andre Silva, were deceased when their vehicle veered off the A-52 highway in Cernadilla, Zamora, and burst into flames early Tuesday morning.
Zamora Provincial Council stated in a statement: “Two youths die in a crash on the A-52 (Palacios de Sanabria). The car erupted in flames and spread to the underbrush. They were 28 and 26 years old. RIP.”
Paramedics from the Rionegro del Puente Fire Station responded, but the two victims were declared dead on site.
From Pacos de Ferreira to Premier League Champion
Born in Porto, Diogo Jota began his professional life at Pacos de Ferreira before joining Atletico Madrid in 2016. He was sent on loan to FC Porto and later to Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he was a cult hero. Wolves later signed him permanently, and his play set the stage for a transfer to Liverpool in 2020.

Liverpool ‘Devastated’ by Sudden Loss
Soon after the news of the accident came out, Liverpool made a short but heartfelt statement. “We are heartbroken at the unimaginable tragedy,” the club read. “We will say no more at this time to respect the family, friends, teammates, and club staff of the brothers. We will continue to do everything in our power to support them.”
