From Snowy Tawang, Kiren Rijiju Targets Rahul Gandhi Over Parliament Row and Border Politics
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju gave a blunt message to Rahul Gandhi on Monday while standing in deep snow near the China border. On February 16, 2026, the Minister visited the high-altitude Bumla Pass. During the trip, a viral video showed Rijiju helping locals push a stuck car through a heavy snow blockade. He used this moment to say that while he is working on the ground, the Congress leader is only “making noise” in Delhi.
Rijiju told reporters that Gandhi is being “guided by NGOs” who give him bad advice. He argued that Gandhi has no real interest in how Parliament works and only wants to cause trouble. The fight grew more intense after Gandhi was stopped from using an unreleased book by a former Army Chief in a recent debate. Rijiju called this a “serious breach of rules” and said that Gandhi thinks he is “above the laws” of the House.
The Minister did not just talk about politics. He also joined a kayaking event on the Tawangchu River to promote local tourism. He noted that under the current government, border villages are getting better roads and mobile signals. He contrasted this with the past, saying that old leaders ignored these areas for years. Rijiju insisted that India’s borders are now much safer and that the military has full support.
He also mocked the plan to remove Speaker Om Birla. He called it a “desperate act” that will fail because the Opposition does not have the votes. Rijiju claimed that even smaller parties are getting tired of Gandhi’s tactics because they lose their own time to speak. He finished by telling Gandhi to “study the facts” about national security before making more speeches. He made it clear that the government will not take “extra steps” just to please the Congress party.
