Jio and Nvidia team up to democratize AI in India—Affordable AI revolution begins
Jio Platforms is spearheading to make Artificial Intelligence (AI) as accessible as mobile data, leveraging key collaborations and cutting-edge infrastructure. To achieve this, Jio is partnering with Nvidia to offer affordable AI solutions and services, bringing GPU-as-a-service to startups and researchers across the world at competitive global prices.Tihs strategic partnership fits well with Jio’s plan to extend its mobile data revolution to AI.
Jio is planning to develop a 1 GW AI data centre in Gujarat’s Jamnagar for internal and commercial use, supporting the India AI Mission. Specifically, the project underlines its readiness to complete the AI cost-saving infrastructure gap availability as well as the solution for efficient and effective AI functioning with the help of green energy solutions.
AI Language Models and Personalization
Jio is actively developing AI language models and personalised AI agents, focusing on key sectors like retail, healthcare, agriculture, and education. As part of its technological advancement, Jio is integrating Artificial Intelligence across its operations as well as its corporate structure across the diverse business portfolio, including the oil and gas industry as well as the management of telecommunication networks.
These efforts are channelled through the Jio-Bharat-focused application known as the Jio Brain Suite, which is effectively an application that attempts to integrate real-time data into a system to optimize and expedite decision-making processes.
“Once Jio Brain as a platform is perfected within Reliance, we can offer it to other enterprises as well,” a company executive revealed, highlighting its future commercial potential.
India AI Mission and GPU Subsidies
Jio Platforms and 18 others have so far proposed their bids for empanelment under the India AI Mission an effort by the government to foster AI-responsible innovation. The Rs 10,300 crore project shall include Rs 5,000 crore for acquiring AI hardware. The entry of Jio this time helps make it a serious contender and player in bringing in subsidized GPU services. “We (Jio and others) as vendors will compete to offer lower prices to Rs 25,” the executive said, emphasizing the role of affordability in scaling AI technology.
Free AI Cloud Storage Initiative
As part of efforts to make Artificial Intelligence more available, Jio introduced free cloud AI storage of up to 100GB, enabling clients to easily share photos, movies and other file formats. This initiative fits perfectly into Jio’s larger strategy to eventually normalise the use of AI in people’s lives and offer the latest solutions.
