Don Anant Singh from Mokama Assembly of Bihar Files Nomination, Declares Rs. 37.88 Crore Assets
Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) has released the first list of candidates for its 101 seats. These seats were allotted as part of the NDA seat-sharing deal. Some candidates mentioned in this list include Ratnesh Sada from Sonbarsa, Maheshwar Hazari from Kalyanpur, and Anant Kumar Singh from Mokama assemblies.
Among these candidates, Anant Singh’s (a don) nomination is attracting attention after he announced assets worth Rs. 37.88 crore in his affidavit. A criminal case was previously filed against the don-turned politician, but he was later acquitted. However, Singh still faces 28 criminal cases.
JDU Announces Nomination of Don Anant Kumar Singh
Anant Singh is a five-time MLA from the Mokama assembly of Bihar. He reportedly submitted his nomination papers on Tuesday after getting the party symbol directly from the top leaders.
One of the surprising things found in the affidavit was that Singh stated ownership of movable assets worth Rs. 26.66 crore and immovable property priced at Rs. 11.22 crore. Furthermore, his wife, Neelam Devi, an MLA from Mokama, also holds overall assets worth Rs. 62.72 crore.
According to the affidavit, Anant Singh currently has Rs. 15.62 lakh in cash, whereas his wife has Rs. 34.60 lakhs. The couple has multiple bank accounts and owns large amounts of gold. Additionally, Singh owns three top-model SUVs priced at Rs. 3.23 crore, and Neelam owns three cars worth Rs. 77.62 crore.
Is Anant Singh Still Facing 28 Criminal Cases?
The declarations made in the affidavit also show that Anant Singh faces 28 criminal cases as of October 2025. However, his dominance in Mokama politics remains. His family has dominated the seat since 1990, with only a temporary gap when the opposition won.
After a prolonged dominance in the Mokama assembly, Anant Singh handed over the power to his wife after a UAPA case was filed against him. However, the Patna High Court recently acquitted him, marking his return to Mokama politics. Upon his return, the politician said that he no longer intends to assign the responsibility of “guarding the family fortress” to his wife.
