Second Note Suspected in Suicide – Family Alleges Political Pressure and Forced Reports in Maharashtra Doctor’s Death, Demands Fair Investigation
A new twist and controversy have come up in the Maharashtra doctor suicide case. The family of the young woman doctor has claimed that there was a delay in her postmortem and that one more suicide note may exist.
The 29-year-old doctor worked at a government hospital in Phaltan, Satara. She was found dead in a hotel room last week. A note written on her palm accused police sub-inspector Gopal Badane of rape and her landlord’s son, Prashant Bankar, of harassment.
Family Suspects Missing Suicide Note and Lapses in Probe
Her cousin has now said that this short note may not tell the full story. He believes the doctor could have written another note that has not been found yet. He said she had earlier written long complaint letters about the pressure she was facing at work.
The cousin also said that there were lapses in how the case was handled. He claimed that her body was taken to the hospital without informing the family and that no postmortem was done till 6 a.m. This, he said, raised many questions about the way the investigation was done.
According to the family, the doctor had been under police and political pressure for over a year. They said she was forced to make false postmortem reports and issue fake fitness certificates. The cousin said she often told her family about how she was being pushed to do things against her will.
Political Reactions and Demand for Fair Probe
The case has now taken a political turn. Opposition leaders have accused the government of protecting people involved in the case. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has said that the investigation will be fair and that no one will be protected.
Both accused, Badane and Bankar, have been arrested. Badane has also been suspended from duty. The doctor’s family has demanded a Special Investigation Team (SIT) with a woman officer from outside Maharashtra to look into the case.
The case has raised serious questions about the pressure faced by government doctors and the safety of women working in public hospitals. If another suicide note is found, it could bring out more facts about what really happened before the doctor took her life.
