Gemini Enhances Google TV With Interactive Lessons, Voice Commands, and Google Photos Integration
At CES 2026 in Las Vegas, Google introduced the newest Gemini features for Google TV that are based on AI and Models for Entertainment and Personalization. Salahuddin Choudhary, Google’s Gemini for Android product manager, demonstrated the use of voice for adjusting the TV settings by the viewers.
For example, one can tell Gemini to “boost the dialogue” or switch off the motion smoothing effect while still watching the show, making daily streaming much easier.
Deep Dive and Interactive Learning
One standout feature is the AI model’s “deep dive,” which transforms casual questions into interactive lessons. Choudhary asked Gemini to "explain the Northern Lights subject to [his] eighth grader," which generated a narrated and illustrated adventure with pictures and video tiles.
The feature is designed for families and inquisitive watchers; it makes the educational content more interesting, and it is accessible through the large screen.
Enhanced Google Photos Experience
Google Photos also gets tighter integration with Google TV. Users are allowed to exhibit their private images in a big format and utilize Gemini’s remix feature to apply AI-based effects. Choudhary showcased transforming a beach photo into an oil painting and even turning an image into a short animation using Veo.
visually appealing, these tools are considered less essential than voice control and educational features.
Entertainment Meets Creativity
Other AI-powered capabilities, such as video generation or cartoon effects, may appeal to children or heavy Gemini users. Gemini allows customization of photos and videos in ways that were previously limited to mobile or desktop apps.
Although some features are more playful than practical, they demonstrate Google’s broader aim to blend entertainment, creativity, and interactivity on the TV screen.
Practical AI Enhances TV Viewing
Compared to previous updates, Gemini makes Google TV more than just a streaming device. Voice-based controls, interactive lessons, and large-format Google Photos integration show practical improvements, while creative features add entertainment value.
As AI becomes central to home entertainment, Google TV positions itself as a hub for both convenience and imaginative experiences, signaling a shift in how viewers interact with content.
