Suhana Khan, daughter of Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan, is facing legal trouble over a land deal in Alibaug, Maharashtra. She reportedly bought agricultural land worth Rs. 12.91 crore from three sisters, Anjali, Rekha, and Priya, who had inherited it from their parents.

Land Rules Under Scrutiny

The land, located in Thal village, was originally allocated by the government for farming. It cannot be sold or transferred without prior approval from the authorities. Documents show that Suhana was listed as a “farmer” when the land was registered under Deja Vu Farm Pvt Ltd., a company connected to her family. She also paid a stamp duty of Rs. 77.46 lakh at the time of purchase.

Authorities are now reviewing whether the purchase followed Maharashtra’s land rules. The Resident Deputy Collector, Sandesh Shirke, has asked the Alibaug Tehsildar to submit a fair report on the legality of the transaction. The officials are checking whether the proper permissions were taken and whether the land classification was correctly followed.

Experts say that agricultural land in Maharashtra can only be bought by genuine farmers or with special approval. Selling or transferring land without permission is against the law. The case has raised questions about whether celebrities get special treatment when dealing with land.

This is not the first time the Khan family has faced scrutiny over Alibaug properties. In 2018, the income tax department had attached one of the family’s farmhouses over alleged misuse of land meant for farming.

Bollywood Debut Amid Controversy

Suhana is preparing for her Bollywood debut in the film "King." She made her acting debut in "The Archies" and will soon appear on the big screen alongside her father. Meanwhile, the land case continues to develop, and the outcome will show whether the purchase will be allowed or canceled for breaking the rules.

Legal experts and local lawyers emphasize that agricultural land rules apply to everyone equally, regardless of status. This case may become an example of how seriously Maharashtra enforces its farming land laws.

Suhana Khan’s Alibaug purchase is a step forward in the hotspot of Mumbai’s coastline. It has become a centre of public conversations on ownership of land, its purchasing privileges, laws governing it, and the transparency of its dealings. While the public is concerned, the authorities' report will finalise whether she will retain ownership of the property or face further action.
