New CCTV footage from the Red Fort area has added a mysterious layer to the Delhi blast investigation. A masked man was seen in a Hyundai i20 moments before the explosion. Delhi Police have launched a citywide manhunt. Officials are analyzing footage in detail to determine his motive.
Big Reveal from CCTV Footage
At least eight people were killed, 20 others were injured, and several vehicles were gutted in the explosion that took place near the Red Fort at around 6:52 pm on Monday (November 10, 2025).
According to news agency ANI, cops have obtained CCTV footage showing the suspect's car entering and exiting the parking lot, and it indicates that the suspect was alone at the time.
A fresh picture has emerged, showing a masked man driving the Hyundai i20 car minutes before the explosion, as per the latest updates from the ongoing probe.
"It was being driven on the Chhata Rail Chow before taking a U-turn and moving towards Lower Subash Marg. The CCTV footage shows that the car was approaching a signal and had slowed down when the explosion occurred," an official said.
The new visuals from a parking lot showed a man wearing a black mask and driving a Hyundai i20 with the number plate HR26CE7674. The investigation later identified the driver as Umar Un Nabi, a doctor based in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama.
He was allegedly linked to a terror module which had ties to the seizure of a huge amount of explosives in Faridabad a day earlier, two Delhi Police officers told news agencies.
The Probe
"Investigators are now tracing the route towards Daryaganj, while more than 100 CCTV clips, including footage from nearby toll plazas, are being examined to establish the complete movement of the vehicle," the agency quoted sources.
It was earlier reported that a CCTV clip helped investigators trace the Hyundai car's trip before the high-intensity blast. As per the clip, the vehicle reached near Sunehri Masjid through the Daryaganj market area around 4 pm, nearly three hours before the blast.
Cops are still trying to find out what led to the explosion, and the forensic team was seen collecting samples from the explosion site early in the morning on Tuesday (11 November 2025).
An officer has said that investigators are exploring whether the blast was caused by an explosive device that detonated accidentally during transport. While it was initially suspected that it may have been a CNG cylinder, an officer has said that it doesn't appear to be the case.
The officer also suggested the use of ammonia gel or a similar explosive, but there is no official confirmation on the cause yet.
Amid ambiguity over what caused the explosion, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has promised a thorough probe, saying cops would investigate the case from all angles.
Who Owns the Car?
The investigation revealed that two people who have previously been owners of the Hyundai i20 car. They were identified as Salman and Devender. The car was registered in 2014 in Salman's name, and he later sold it to Devender around one and a half years ago, said a Police spokesperson.
Stringent laws like the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Explosives Act are among the charges under which the Delhi Police have filed a case in the Hyundai car blast case.
