Bumrah’s Incredible Consistency Across Test, ODI, and T20I Cricket Cements His Status as One of the World’s Greatest Fast Bowlers
Jasprit Bumrah has created history by becoming the first Indian cricketer to take 100 wickets each in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is, achieving a feat no other Indian bowler has reached before. His consistency, skill, and dominance across formats now place him among the most elite fast bowlers in world cricket.
The achievement highlights his unmatched versatility and makes him one of the most complete pacers of the modern era.
Bumrah’s Record
Jasprit Bumrah created history on Tuesday (December 9) at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack during the first T20I between India and South Africa. Bumrah finished with figures of 2-17, which included the big wicket of Dewald Brevis, who was the top-scorer for the Proteas with a knock of 22 in 14 balls.
Bumrah became the second Indian to bag 100 wickets after Arshdeep Singh in a T20I. He has also become the first Indian to take over 100 wickets in all three formats of the game.
Bowlers To Take 100 Wickets In All 3 Formats
Lasith Malinga was the first bowler in the world to take 100 wickets in all three formats of the game. He achieved the feat in 2019. New Zealand’s Tim Southee is the only bowler to dismiss at least 150 batters in all three formats. Former Bangladeshi captain Shakib Al Hasan is the only spinner to dismiss at least 100 batters each in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is. Pakistan’s ODI captain, Shaheen Shah Afridi, also has 100 wickets to his credit in all three formats.
Player | Country | Test Wickets | ODI Wickets | T20I Wickets |
Lasith Malinga | Sri Lanka | 101 | 338 | 107 |
Tim Southee | New Zealand | 391 | 221 | 164 |

Bumrah’s Unique Records
Bumrah is the only one who has an economy of less than seven and an average below 25 in all three formats. No other player averages below 25 in all formats of the game.
Among spinners from Test-playing nations who have over 100 T20I wickets, only Rashid Khan (13.57) and Wanindu Hasaranga (15.86) are averaging better than Bumrah.
India vs South Africa
The hosts started the series with an emphatic win to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. After taking Brevis’s wicket on the second ball of the 12th over, Bumrah removed Keshav Maharaj on the fifth ball of that same over.
Apart from Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Axar Patel, and Varun Chakaravarthy have also picked up two wickets in the match.
Hardik, who slammed 59 runs from 28 balls, also took one wicket in the match. His blistering knock helped India to post a total of 175/6 in 20 overs. The visitors got all out for just 74.
