Fatal Train Collision in Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur: 5 Killed as MEMU Train Hits Goods Train

On Tuesday, a horrific train accident took place near Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, in the afternoon when a MEMU passenger coach rammed into a goods train. In this incident five were killed and fourteen people were injured.

Shortly after the accident, rescue operations were performed by the railway officials, who swiftly mobilized the resources. In addition, senior personnel rushed to the site in order to monitor the situation. They also made sure that all the injured people were shifted to Apollo and CIMS hospitals for urgent medical care.

Bilaspur Rescue Efforts and Medical Response

A passenger MEMU train coach collided with a goods train near Bilaspur railway station. The incident occurred in Chhattisgarh at around 4:00 PM on Tuesday. At least five people were killed in this shocking train accident. 

Additionally, fourteen individuals sustained injuries in the severe collision. Railway officials quickly moved all available resources to the scene and rescue operations were launched.

Senior officials rushed to the site to supervise the situation closely. The injured people were promptly taken to nearby hospitals. They are receiving immediate medical assistance and treatment at the Apollo Hospital and Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences. On the other hand, officials confirmed that efforts were underway to evacuate four people trapped in the wreckage.

Inquiry Ordered and Compensation Announced

The Railway Administration confirmed the number of casualties and injured passengers. They also announced ex-gratia compensation for the victims' families. The next of kin of the deceased will receive Rs. 10 lakh. 

Those who are grievously injured will be provided Rs. 5 lakh in assistance and the passengers who sustained minor injuries will receive Rs. 1 lakh. A detailed inquiry into the tragic incident will also be conducted soon.

The Commissioner of Railway Safety is set to lead the investigation and will figure out the exact cause and recommend necessary corrective actions. The state government stands in full solidarity with the families who suffered the loss. Emergency helpline numbers have been made operational for public convenience. This coordination is ongoing for prompt relief measures and support.

The Railway Administration confirmed the casualties and announced ex-gratia compensation for the families of the victims, including Rs. 10 lakh for the deceased's. A detailed inquiry has been ordered, which will be led by the Commissioner of Railway Safety to identify the cause.
