Windows 11's AI-Powered Text Actions and Smart Settings Revolutionize Productivity with Privacy-First Tech
Windows 11 is stepping into one of its greatest eras with smart updates that change how users handle text and settings. The latest Insider Preview Build 26120.3964 signals the start of version 24H2 and brings two standout upgrades: intelligent text actions and a new way to use the Settings app.
Smarter Text with “Click To Do”
The “Click To Do” feature now makes selected text smarter. On Copilot+ PCs powered by AMD or Intel chips, selecting at least 10 words with shortcuts like Win + Q or Win + mouse click allows the system to summarize, rewrite, or create a bulleted list.
It is more than just a clever shortcut—it uses an on-device AI model called Phi Silica, which works offline and protects privacy. There’s no cloud access, which means speed and safety stay in focus. This feature currently supports English, while French and Spanish versions are in progress.
AI-Powered Settings Agent
Parallel to this is the Settings app transformation. The new AI-powered Settings agent understands natural language. Instead of hunting for the right menu, one can type phrases like “my mouse pointer is too small,” and the agent takes care of the rest.
The feature does not just find—it can even apply the changes. It is built for Snapdragon-powered Copilot+ PCs, with wider support for AMD and Intel coming soon.
New FAQ Section in Settings
The Settings app also gets an upgrade with a new FAQ section under System > About. It gives easy access to device configuration, performance info, and compatibility details in one place.
Performance, Privacy, and Everyday Use
Microsoft is building these tools to create a smoother, faster experience on Windows 11. With AI-powered upgrades, there’s now a better balance between performance and privacy. These features are not only impressive—they're designed to be daily helpers.
On-Device Intelligence at the Core
Both the intelligent text actions and the Settings agent are evidence of Microsoft's move towards on-device intelligence, where software is more nimble, private, and embedded in the PC itself. This avoids delays and data sharing risks that come with cloud services.
The Future of Personal Computing with Phi Silica
With Phi Silica working in the background and Copilot+ PC hardware support growing, this release hints at the future of personal computing. These changes aren’t flashy add-ons. They signal a change in how the operating system connects with the user—smarter, more helpful, and deeply built into Windows 11.
Looking Ahead
As rollout continues, more devices and languages will soon catch up. For now, the 24H2 build is opening new ways to interact with the system in a more human, more responsive way.
