Honda's new Passport SUV with rugged off-road features is now available globally. Will it rival the Mahindra Thar Roxx in India?

Honda has launched a new fourth generation of its off-road SUVs called the Honda Passport, which is made to withstand some rough terrains at a strong stance. It has an outer appearance of being a lot more rugged and promises improved experiences from the inside out better than its previous model.

Honda Passport comes in three trims: RTL, Trailsport, and Trailsport Elite, which match features to your needs.

Crusty Exterior But Techy Rich Interior Features

Tough exterior and high-tech interior features - The Honda Passport's exterior exudes a boxy and rugged look, with large rectangular headlamps, an upright grille with an imposing Honda logo, and a wide hood.

The SUV also has more ground clearance as well as 18-inch alloy wheels to stress the off-road capability of this vehicle. Inside, the SUV is indeed luxurious with the all-black theme, leather upholstery, and high-tech features like a 12.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, and a premium Bose audio system. In addition, it is integrated with sophisticated features like a 360-degree camera and comprehensive ADAS suite besides dual-zone climate control.

Honda's Passport features aggressive power and off-road capability

The Honda Passport reportedly arrives with a potent 285 bhp, 3.5-litre V6 petrol motor and is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. In addition, the off-road edition of the SUV features an especially fine-tuned suspension for it to genuinely tackle the toughest of terrains.

The present variant of the off-roader-like few others-Honda Passport is intended specifically for the North American markets. The company has already ruled out the launch of this SUV in India. Off-road SUVs are a popular trend in India, but the Honda Passport will not be a competitor to the Mahindra Thar Roxx on Indian roads. Honda will introduce a new-generation Amaze sedan for India to compete with Maruti Dzire by December 2024.

The Mahindra Thar Roxx has an amazing run in India's off-road SUV market, with stylish designs, solid performance, and a compact build. Still, long waiting lines attract customers for off-roaders such as the Thar Roxx; on the other hand, the Honda Passport goes exclusively only to North America and has no plans of bringing it into the Indian market.
