Breaking Barriers: ChatGPT Launches Read Aloud Feature for Enhanced Accessibility

OpenAI, the artificial intelligence (AI) powerhouse led by Sam Altman, has unveiled a new feature for its ChatGPT platform. This new addition allows the chatbot to audibly narrate answers in five different voices. This feature will soon be integrated into web versions and mobile applications on iOS and Android platforms.

Ideal for users on the move who want audible answers to questions, the read-aloud feature boasts versatility with support for 37 languages. It intelligently recognizes conversational language, ensuring that the desired information is delivered with ease. Users can also choose to continue answering verbally via ChatGPT. Notably, the feature extends beyond premium users, including GPT 3.5 users for free.

ChatGPT can then read your replies. Click and hold on the message on iOS or Android and then tap “Read Aloud”. We've also started rolling on the web - click the "Read Aloud" button below the message.

To use the ChatGPT Read Aloud Feature

Launch ChatGPT using a browser or mobile device of your choice

 Musk is suing OpenAI

In a parallel development, OpenAI’s former co-founder and tech magnate Elon Musk initiated legal action against OpenAI and its CEO Sam Altman. Musk alleges a breach of contract, arguing that OpenAI’s focus on profit and commercial interests differs from its original commitment to the public good, according to media reports.

The lawsuit filed Thursday evening in San Francisco highlights the conflict between Musk and the AI company he helped found. Reuters reports that the controversy stems in part from Microsoft's large investment. Musk, who parted ways with OpenAI’s board in 2018, has been vocally critical of Microsoft’s partnership with the company.

Conclusion: At ChatGPT, we are committed to promoting inclusion and access in everything we do. We think Read Aloud is an important step toward that goal, and we’re excited to see how it enhances your experience on our platform.
