Microsoft unveils Bing image creator utilizing OpenAI’s DALL-E to create images based on text prompts

Microsoft Corp released an image-creation feature for search engine Bing and browser Edge that will use OpenAI’s DALL-E technology to generate images based on text prompts. The Bing Image Creator tool will be available to users of the most recent AI-powered version of Bing and Edge preview.

Microsoft has announced the availability of Bing Image Creator in Microsoft Edge for both desktop and mobile users worldwide in English, as well as its deployment to Bing preview users via Bing chat. The feature allows users to generate an image based on their written description by utilizing an enhanced version of Open AI’s DALL-E model. The company also revealed plans to integrate Image Creator into Edge via the new Bing button in chat mode in the browser’s preview version. Users can use Image Creator to generate images based on their descriptions, including additional context such as location or activity, etc.

Microsoft and Alphabet Inc’s Google are at the forefront, touting AI features for their most popular products ranging from spreadsheet software Excel to Gmail. According to a Microsoft blog post, it acts as a creative partner for users, allowing them to create visuals for a variety of purposes, such as a newsletter for friends or inspiration for home décor, simply by typing prompts like ‘create an image’ or ‘draw an image’ in chat. In addition to the image generator, Bing will launch two new search features: Visual Stories and Knowledge Cards 2.0. “To support the growing demand for more visual search experiences, we are also making Stories and Knowledge Cards 2.0 available to all Bing users,” the company said. These features, according to Microsoft, will be made available to all Bing users to meet the growing demand for more visual search experiences. Knowledge Cards 2.0 is an AI-powered infographic-like display that provides users with interesting facts and important information in a quick and easy-to-digest format. The update includes interactive, dynamic content such as charts, graphs, timelines, and other visuals.
