Microsoft to soon launch its AI Chip that might resemble Nvidia GPU

Microsoft has been investing in artificial intelligence to develop new products. During the debut of its surface goods, the business unveiled several AI advances that both astonished and awed the audience. It is now believed that Microsoft will release a new AI processor, which will reduce expenses and total reliance on Nvidia. Nvidia technology has been in great demand, but supply is running low. As a result, Microsoft's next products may benefit from the new AI technology.

Microsoft's Latest AI Chip

According to The Information report (via GizmoChina), Microsoft is aiming to release a new AI processor which has been designated 'Athena' in code. The new processor will be released to lessen Microsoft's reliance on Nvidia technology. The new device is intended to compete with NVIDIA's H100 GPU. Microsoft and many other cloud providers are currently using GPUs. Large language models (LLMs) and artificial intelligence software are incorporating the technique.

The chip is expected to be unveiled during Microsoft's Ignite conference, which takes place from November 14 to November 17. The decision was made due to increased demand for Nvidia GPUs and a supply deficit. Furthermore, demand for artificial intelligence is increasing, and the endeavour may create new opportunities for Microsoft. It's been reported that OpenAI, which is backed by Microsoft, is looking into building its own AI processors.

The creation of a new AI chip may also allow Microsoft to reduce expenses while improving the chip performance of its cloud services. Some studies have also claimed that Google and Amazon are working on building their own AI chips, which may help the expansion of the AI chip industry.

The business has not yet announced the release date of the new AI chip, although it may be released next month.
