Meta to Create 1,000 Jobs with $299.99 Quest 3S Mixed Reality Headset Production in Vietnam

Meta, the parent company of Facebook, is known for its bold and ambitious ideas. They plan to strengthen their presence in Vietnam by starting production of their new mixed reality headset, Quest 3S, in 2025.

This announcement represents an important step for Meta to seek further depth within the Southeast Asian market. Especially when fast strides taking shape in the region's tech landscapes are considered. Plans were announced during a high-profile meeting between Nick Clegg, Meta's president of global affairs, and Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Hanoi.

It was at this crucial meeting that Clegg declared that manufacturing operations were going to yield around 1,000 jobs. This just proves the company intends to contribute to the locality's economy.

Instead of being a price competitor to the $499 Quest 3, the Quest 3S brings high-end mixed reality headsets to the masses starting at $299.99. Therefore, it will be more affordable in Vietnam. Meanwhile, Meta will also start shipping a version of its AI assistant, which will be localized for Vietnam, supporting many apps in business environments.

Clegg went on to say that Vietnam is an important market. The country has a vibrant population of nearly 100 million people. Most of them are highly tech-literate and very engaged with Meta’s platforms.

According to him, the Vietnamese government has been very aggressive in its data strategy and encourages innovation. It supports the bigger strategic strategy of Vietnam to further advance its technology sector, especially its applications in artificial Intelligence and IoT.

Clegg promised that Meta would help local businesses and entrepreneurs join the digital economy. They will also work to prevent online misinformation and improve user safety. This shows Meta’s commitment to supporting growth in Vietnam’s fast-changing market.
