Marvel Rivals launches December 6: New characters revealed including Over 30 heroes

The Chinese Internet Technology company, NetEase has unveiled that it will introduce five popular Marvel superheroes in its upcoming game called Marvel Rivals. As per the report, five superheroes are Black Widow, Cloak & Dagger, Iron Fist, Squirrel Girl, as well as Wolverine which puts the number of superheroes and villains that can be played in over thirty. The game already includes familiar characters like Iron Man, Groot and Scarlet Witch.

Launch Teaser and Gameplay Highlights

A new teaser has been released which features the new cast suggesting the game’s setting has grown in size “From Tokyo 2099 to the Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda, and to Hydra Charter is Base and Klyntar, Galacta has assembled more heroes to take on the ultimate challenge,” the teaser states. The players are encouraged, and rightly so, to ask, “Who will you choose as your main to save the Multiverse on December 6th?”

Marvel Rivals is a free-to-play game with a PvP team shooting concept designed for the PC platform only. Described as a “thrilling, fast-paced, cooperative gameplay experience.” It pits six players against each other in fully destructible arenas based on Marvel’s various realities. Jay Ong, the Head of Marvel Games, said it is “one of the team’s most ambitious game development projects” saying that the company has “put their heart and soul into it”.

Controversy and Apology

Earlier this year, NetEase faced backlash over a restrictive playtest terms of service contract. The agreement barred players from making “statements that are detrimental to the reputation of the game.” Following public criticism, the Marvel Rivals Content Creator Team stated Discord, saying it “sincerely apologized” for the “miscommunication and your unpleasant experiences.”
