A Self-made Leader
Jeanniey Walden is the Chief Innovation and Marketing Officer (CIMO) of DailyPay. Before joining the company, Jeanniey led marketing teams at multiple Fortune 1000 companies and start-ups and launched a couple of her own businesses. She finds joy in growing start-ups and helping individuals reach their highest potential.Jeanniey has a long history of working in the FinTech industry.
Jeanniey’s passion for marketing grew in her early career days. She was fascinated with data and enjoyed the challenge of attracting customers to a brand while increasing a company’s brand value. A big part of Jeanniey’s job as the CIMO is to create brand awareness within the marketplace to increase leads and interest. She strategizes creative and data-driven marketing campaigns for DailyPay that target prospects from all industries. Jeanniey leads a growing marketing team that plays a pivotal role in solidifying DailyPay as the gold standard company in the on-demand pay industry.
Every past job experience has taught Jeanniey a lesson. However, starting her own business was one of the most rewarding skills. It has massively impactedJeanniey’s leadership qualities. Running her business exposed Jeanniey to various non-traditional marketing roles such as handling payroll. They challenged her to solve problems from various angles.
Jeanniey thinks that even though developing and broadening the skillsets is necessary to become a successful leader, it’s not enough. She believes that a successful leader needs to be authentic. This is something that Jeanniey struggled with when she was young. Jeanniey would hide the fact that she was a mother for two girls, her love for high heels, etc. as it made her seem too feminine or weak. After deciding to go in as herself, even if it was scary, Jeanniey found that people embrace her for who she was. Slowly, Jeanniey found that authenticity made her an even more effective leader.
Conquering the Challenge of Solely Building a Career Path
Jeanniey says that she entered the FinTech industry when the female representation was significantly less. She highlights the point that it still continues, but was worse before. She recalls that it was difficult at times to be the only woman in the room and not have any female mentors to turn to. An employee resource group for women was unheard of back in the day. With very few guidelines for women on how to grow their career in a corporate setting, Jeanniey was forced to build her career path. She presumes that this challenge was liberating as she had the freedom to design her own path. Unfortunately, she did face multiple setbacks at times as she was directionless but managed to overcome them.
Jeanniey declares that ultimately, being forced to make a name for her own helped her become bolder and induced her to put in more work compared to her peers. Jeanniey adds that she learned how to value herself and shine in situations that were unfavourable to her.
Proclaiming Transformational Leaders to Follow ‘AIR’
Jeanniey reveals that she follows a mantra to be successful and suggests transformational leaders to do the same. The secret is ‘AIR’- Transformational leaders should approach everything they do in an ‘Authentic’ Manner where they ‘Inspire’ others and ensure they ‘Relate’ to their audience. She implies that anyone can practice AIR, but to master it, leaders need to learn to accept themselves first. Once they come to value themselves, they will naturally find boldness, attract others and value other individuals. Jeanniey states that she tries to approach every day with this outlook and practice, and she encourages other emerging leaders to follow her suit.
Trailblazing High-Quality Products and Services
Jeannieysharesthat at DailyPay, employees are constantly innovating to make the highest quality products and services. DailyPay is a recognized gold standard company in On-Demand Pay Industry. The company pushes its employees to live up to its name. Jeanniey mentions that they don't take what they do lightly, and frankly, there is no room for error.
She further adds that everything the employees do at DailyPay is guided by the desire to help companies improve their bottom line while helping their workers achieve financial stability by gaining unprecedented control overtheir pay.
Jeanniey remarks that DailyPay’s target audience knows ‘if they put employees at the centre of the payment experience, they actually start behaving differently.’ For starters, employees stay longer. She highlights that some of the company’s employer partners report an increase in retention by up to 45%. Employees are more engaged and more likely to pick up extra shifts. Importantly, this is all accomplished without changing a single thing about the employer’s payroll process. Payroll teams are busy, and Dailypay’s program is set up in such a way that it doesn’t add any workflow changes or hassle.
Jeanniey implies that Dailypay’s innovation is truly driven by its employee's desire to make a difference and go above and beyond.
Leading the Growing Necessity of On-Demand Pay
Jeanniey asserts that the growing necessity of on-demand pay during the pandemic has affected the ways companies recruit top talents. The company’s research shows that one in six people are looking for a job that offers DailyPay. Offering a daily pay benefit, especially, one that’s accessible from day one on the job will be essential in recruiting new employees with quality.
Jeanniey rejoices that the industry is still in the early days with tremendous growth opportunities. Americans are recognizing the need for flexible pay and the pandemic shifted the nation’s perspective of on-demand pay from a benefit to essential. She adds that in the next five years, DailyPay expects at least 75% of U.S. businesses to offer a daily pay benefit, and she hopes that they work with the company, the gold standard in the industry.
Enlightening Women Leaders to Find a Good Mentor
Jeanniey advises emerging women leaders to find a good mentor and get plugged into a women’s employee resource group. She insists on creating windows of opportunities to cultivate relationships with other females in the tech industry and uplift each other. Jeanniey suggests that the people women leaders meet along their career journey can offer valuable opportunities and great advice. She concludes by saying that in an industry that still lacks female representation, it’s crucial to work together and break the glass ceiling so that future generations of female tech leaders can advance their careers.
