Japan Unveils World's First 6G Device, Pioneering Next-Generation Connectivity

Technology has improved tremendously due to improved internet connectivity worldwide. It optimizes our devices and apps for better usage. Fortunately, Japanese companies have developed the world’s first 6G devices, bringing this unprecedented future of internet connectivity closer to reality.

 How did the Japanese companies develop these 6G devices?

The official press release from internet connectivity developer DOCOMO shares more details of the 6G project.

It explains that DOCOMO, NTT Corporation, NEC Corporation, and Fujitsu have been working on this device since 2021. Each company handled the following research and development phases;

DOCOMO analyzed wireless system design for 100 GHz telecommunications applications. Additionally, it developed wireless transmission devices with data delivery rates of up to 100 Gbps per 100 meters.

NTT Corp., Japan’s leading telecommunications provider, has developed high-end 300 GHz equipment capable of delivering 100 Gbps per channel over 100 meters.

The Multi-Element Active Phase Array Antenna (APAA) with over 100 antenna elements was developed by NEC, a Japanese IT company.

Japanese electronics firm Fujitsu has developed a range of semiconductors that can boost signals in the 100 GHz and 300 GHz bandwidth bands with high throughput and efficiency.

As a result, the world’s first 6G devices were developed. The interesting technology explains its ability to simultaneously display five HD movies per second. It’s easy to assume that 6G devices just offer faster internet, but it has important long-term implications.

It says 6G can eliminate buffering, lag, and disconnection globally. More importantly, it will enhance machine-to-machine connectivity and realize the future of the “Internet of Things”.

The Internet is a vision where all devices work well with online connectivity.  The world now has 5G, which provides 20GB per millisecond. In contrast, 6G will deliver 1TB per microsecond.

Swedish telecommunications company Ericsson says 6G devices will enable precision healthcare, smart agriculture, digital twinning, and robotic transport, among other advanced technologies.

The European Commission announced the EU on its website and Japan reaffirmed its digital partnership in developing technologies such as 6G and artificial intelligence. As a result, the first 6G devices will not be the last as this collaboration will encourage innovations.
