Indian Firms are Accelerating to Cloud Strategy Due to Pandemic

85% continue to rank hybrid cloud as an ideal IT operating model.

Office doors are closed at the employees face. On the grounds of unemployment and work from home strategy. The pandemic has changed the workforce movement upside down. Remarkably, only the physical office structures are shut while the employees are still on their heels to complete the target.

The increase in Covid-19 cases, social distancing and quarantine guidelines have pushed the Indian economy on a deep pit. Indian companies have started functioning off the office space on a work from home basis to cope with the fallen economy. But in the beginning, it was not as easy as they thought. Maintaining an office and the employees without meeting them every day involves extra work of maintenance. It would’ve been impossible for the organizations to keep the fire burning without the invasion of technology.

Starting from the Internet of Things (IoT) to Device-as-a-service, business sectors are looking for solutions to shift online. According to a report by Nutanix, around 91% of the Indian enterprises have already moved or planning to move, public apps back on-premises. Globally 73% are accepting the same idea.

Companies have realized that they need software and infrastructure solutions for any scenarios to get pre-pandemic performance. Cloud has turned out to be an important ally for organizations across regions and industries with remote working and flexible IT models being a necessity.

Furthermore, companies are looking at ways to effectively use cloud rather than simply migrating their existing infrastructure. They are keen on accepting the technological changes that the cloud could bring. Companies are open to switching to a fully automated system. Business organizations look for core business functions which can be cloud-enabled. They are choosing different cloud models for specific functions. The cloud way optimizes the cost and complexity of the working system.

A widely chosen form of cloud is the hybrid cloud solutions that could patch the gap between physical office going and virtual employment.

Adopting to hybrid cloud solutions

Indian IT professionals are almost unanimously in agreement that hybrid cloud represents the ideal IT operating model. A report unravels that 42% of the enterprises in the country are willing to shift the majority of their IT deployment to Hybrid Cloud while 85% continue to rank it as the ideal IT operating model.

Hybrid cloud is a solution that combines a private cloud with one or more public cloud services, with proprietary software enabling communication between distinctive services. It moves the workloads between cloud solutions as needs and costs fluctuate.

When companies are stuck at the corner of economic turmoil, hybrid cloud comes as a rescue operation. The high embrace of hybrid cloud is due to its cost efficiency and features. Organisations are keeping core applications at a data centre and moving business continuity functions to the cloud at a lower cost. This comes as a result of companies taking strategies to think on investments effectively.

Before the pandemic, Indian firms were moving back some apps from the public cloud to on-premises while the global firms took hybrid cloud route. Experts say that Indian companies are in the adjustment phase of understanding hybrid cloud solutions. Hybrid cloud is a viable alternative while enterprises are starting to adopt cloud architecture to minimize cost due to the pandemic effects.
