Honor and Porsche Design collaborate on premium Magic 6 series smartphones
Honour, a leading smartphone brand, has partnered with Porsche Design, a luxury design company, to create stylish and sophisticated versions of its upcoming Magic 6 series devices. The Magic 6 series, which is expected to launch in January 2024, will include three models: Honor Magic 6, Magic 6 Pro, and Magic 6 Ultimate. Recently, some leaked renders of the Porsche Design variants have surfaced online, revealing the design and features of the new phones.
The Honour Magic 6 series is likely to be released shortly. So far, the lineup has been said to contain an Honour Magic 6 and an Honour Magic 6 Pro model. Qualcomm's newest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor is confirmed to power the phones. They are expected to supersede the Honour Magic 5 series, which debuted at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in 2023. Several details concerning the Honour Magic 6 have circulated on the internet. A tipter has already supplied alleged design renderings of the handsets, while another has revealed some critical details.
The Magic 6 Pro, on the other hand, has a more conventional design with a black glass back and a circular camera island with four lenses arranged in a square. The camera ring has an accelerometer-inspired design on the outer diameter, which may appeal to some users. The phone also has a curved edge display with a pill-shaped cutout for the dual selfie cameras.
According to the renders, which were shared by a Weibo tipster, the Magic 6 Porsche Design has a two-tone horizontal design with a leather finish in red and black. The back of the phone features a circular camera ring with three lenses arranged horizontally, as well as the Honor and Porsche Design logos. The phone has a curved edge display with minimal bezels and a pill-shaped cutout for dual selfie cameras.
A Weibo user known as Wangzai Know It All (translated from Chinese) posted what they claim to be leaked renderings of the forthcoming Honour Magic 6 Porsche Design cellphone. Honour launched a global relationship with Porsche Design last week. Although neither manufacturer has specified which phones they would collaborate on, the forthcoming Honour Magic 6 phones are believed to be among the first models.
The vanilla Honour Magic 6 Porsche Design variant is spotted with a red/maroon and black dual-coloured leather finish in the photographs given by the tipster. The circular camera module is centrally located near the top of the rear panel in the red leather region, while the Honour Porsche Design insignia can be seen towards the bottom in the broader black leather expanse. The phone also has three back camera sensors and a horizontally positioned LED flash inside the module. The volume rockers and power buttons are similarly located on the right side of the device.
The Honour Magic 6 Pro, on the other hand, is only available in a single silver/grey colour scheme, with no Porsche Design branding. It is also seen with a centrally situated circular camera module, but the other design differs. The triple cameras on this one is positioned in a triangle, and a horizontal LED unit is put within the circular border of the camera island, which has a characteristic clocklike pattern.
Another tipper with the handle Mr. Guan (translated from Chinese) revealed some crucial specs of the basic Honour Magic 6 model, as well as a partial photograph of the phone's alleged front panel. It is pictured with a curved display with incredibly small bezels and a hole-punched display in the middle to house the front camera sensor.
According to one source, the base Honour Magic 6 will have an IP68 grade for dust and water resistance. It is also rumoured to include optical image stabilisation (OIS), anti-shake, wireless charging, and Qinghai Lake (Chinese) battery compatibility. The Honour Magic 6 series was earlier rumoured to include a 160-megapixel periscope zoom camera rather than a 200-megapixel sensor. OV50K main sensors with LOFIC (Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor) technology are also expected in the phones.
