Honeywell India and IISc Join Forces to Empower Deep Science Startups
Honeywell Hometown Solutions India Foundation (HHSIF), Honeywell (NASDAQ: HON), the Foundation for Science, Innovation and Development (FSID), with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), known for its strong science of remarkable one-stop research, 37 Expanded research and financial support for Indian start-ups, extended capital of ₹9 crore in the last four years.
With a strong focus on agri-tech, clean-tech, health-tech, and green tech, Honeywell funded ₹2.4 crore in FY23-24 for five Entrepreneurship Residency Programs (EIRs) for eight start-ups, and 10 other startups in the current economy. Organizations are planned to be on board.
Through this collaboration, Honeywell provides seed funding and critical research support for startups in the deep sciences focused on solving environmental, agricultural, and healthcare challenges, as has been shown.
Over the years, the synergies between Honeywell and IISc have been extensively explored, helping to expand access to state-of-the-art facilities, engaging with industry stakeholders & government agencies, and building a global network of High Net Worth Individuals ( HNIs), Angels, Venture Capitalists (VCs) and Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises in India (MSMEs) are the organizations.
In FY23-24, Honeywell and IISc expanded their business reach to healthcare/med-tech companies such as Papyrus Diagnostics Pvt Ltd, Akumen Artificial Intelligence, Hoyasan Labs Pvt Ltd, Celson Technologies Pvt Ltd and EZScan MedTech Pvt Ltd; and agricultural technology companies such as Kaija Tech and Green Collar Agritech; and Mushloop Pvt Ltd, a clean-tech company.
Ashish Modi, Chairman, of Honeywell India said, “Our main focus is not only to expand financial support but also to encourage in-depth scientific/technical research that enhances the renewable energy production of these industries. We have worked with more than 40 startups in the last 4 years and will enter 10 more in the next financial year together with IISc we have created a productive ecosystem for these companies, and made a capable impact on the fear of the public.”
A seminal model supported by Honeywell and IISc is the 'AI Highway', which uses advanced signal processing and AI capabilities to provide cost-effective cardiovascular monitoring systems that can scan, detect and control heart and breathing prediction of the problem.
Dfine Bio Innovations Pvt ltd is a Medtech startup backed by Honeywell. The startup has developed an indigenous blood clotting system called FibriTimer Zeta-1 (the first by any Indian company). Zeta-1 uses two patented technologies and helps physicians understand deficiencies in humans in terms of anemia and anemia.
