Honda carries out research & development for advancing Cooperative Intelligence
Honda Motor collaborates with the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) to conduct research and development of AI technology.
The collaboration aim is to make progress in the Honda Cooperative Intelligence (Honda CI), its proprietary AI technology designed to facilitate mutual comprehension between humans and machines.
What is Honda CI
The automaker said Honda CI is a “type of artificial intelligence that supports the user while cooperating with the user and people around them by communicating with gestures, behaviors and words. Achieving mutual understanding and cooperation between people and systems with CI will enable them to coexist in various situations including complex traffic environments”.
Honda to Verify Performance of Driving Assistance
As part of this collaborative research, Honda, in collaboration with IITs, is planning to carry out tests to verify the performance of driving assistance and autonomous driving technologies in the outskirts of Delhi and Mumbai.
Honda said it had been developing CI with the aim to “realise a society where each and every person can enjoy the joy and freedom of mobility. To this end, Honda is trying to make the mobility of people and things ubiquitous (whenever, wherever, to any destination), collision-free and stress-free”.
Honda Motor R&D and Honda Cars India (HCIL), the automaker company, will jointly work with IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay to enhance the capability of AI technology.
Additionally, Honda and IIT professors, along with their respective teams, will collaborate closely with IIT students to plan, design, develop, and test technologies that extend beyond the laboratory setting. This approach will allow Honda and IITs to operate in a more adaptable environment, fostering a deeper exchange of knowledge between academia and industry.
