IBM's partnership with India to supercharge AI, semiconductors, and quantum tech
IBM has aimed to bolster innovation in artificial intelligence, semiconductor research, and quantum technologies. To achieve their goal, IBM has announced a partnership with the Indian government. This collaboration includes the establishment of a national AI innovation platform that will leverage IBM's Watson X platform for language, code, and geospatial science models. IBM will also share its expertise with the Indian Semiconductor Mission (ISM). Additionally, IBM will collaborate with the C-DAC which is the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing to support India's national quantum mission. The company will also work with the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology on the FutureSkills program.
The Indian Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Rajeev Chandrasekhar has emphasized that the decision of partnership and collaboration with IBM was very important. He has stated that the partnership will not only expand semiconductor innovation and research but it will also help address talent development. He also hinted at the potential for setting up semiconductor fabrication units in India through this collaboration.
