Google's Bard AI Assistant Transforms into Gemini: A New Era Unveiled
Google's generative AI assistant Bard may change soon and is expected to be called Gemini, suggests a leaked document on X, formerly known as Twitter. With Google already calling some of its large-language models Gemini, this new branding will make it much easier for the company to offer a range of AI-powered features under one umbrella.
Google has steadily improved Bard with important updates. This improvement is highlighted by the upcoming rebranding, marking the transition to “Twin” and aligning the name with the original model that supports its capabilities.
Set to be released in January, Google Gemini will be available on devices in select regions, reflecting a deliberate approach to its global rollout. Google is working on a new generative AI-powered version of its trusted assistant, which the company first teased at its Pixel 8 launch event in October 2023. Name the new service, “Assistant with Bard,” doesn’t roll off the tongue too well, though.
The company seems to recognize this, as Google is currently experimenting with a new name. In the Google app, the strings changed from the initial “Assistant with Bard” to simply “Bard.” The ministry now has a new well-known name: “Gemini.”
If you don’t know, Gemini is the underlying generative AI model that Google uses to power various AI tools like Bard, such as OpenAI GPT powering ChatGPT.In Google app version 15.4 for Android, 9to5Google found that all references to “Bard” are “They Instead of letting users choose Assistant and Bard as their digital assistant app of choice, it now offers Assistant and Gemini options.
As seen in the image in the post, we can also see the 'Advanced' level of Gemini Ultra, the company's most advanced large-speech model to date that can even surpass OpenAI GPT-4 for ChatGPT Plus and Microsoft copilot power.
The change record indicates that Gemini Advancement will be locked behind a paywall. Its most powerful model of big language is “capable of complex tasks such as logical reasoning, code coding, following best practices, and creative collaboration,” says Google. The company also appears to be upgrading the Gemini Ultra’s capabilities in “the coming months,” to improve its ability to deeply search files, data, and documents.
But most exciting is the launch of the Gemini app for Android devices. Google says the new app “can help you study, write thank-you cards, schedule events, and more in new ways using Google AI on your phone.” It looks like Gemini will be integrated into Google services like Gmail, Maps, and YouTube. While Android gets a new dedicated app, iOS users may have to use the Google app to try out Gemini.
Conclusion: As Google prepares to usher in the Age of Gemini, the tech world stands atop a new frontier. With its unmatched expertise and determination to push the boundaries, Google reaffirms its position as a leader in artificial intelligence, paving the way for a future of unprecedented levels of human-machine interaction.
