Missed opportunity for Google: Canceled Pixel Tablet 2 boasted 5G and 4K output capabilities
The tech giant, Google has apparently called-off the Pixel Tablet 2, a device that users believed would offer huge improvements over the current Pixel Tablet. Although the project has been discontinued, specific information regarding the tablet unveils what the market will not get to benefit from.
Advanced Display and Processing Power
The Pixel Tablet 2 was expected to feature a 10.95 inches LCD display screen with a resolution of 2,560x1,600pixels. The display would have included a frequency of up to 120 Hz, as well as reached the maximum brightness of 550 nits, perfect for users seeking fast image updates and bright color rendering. For power, the tablet was expected to have had a tensor G4 SoC not different from what is expected in the pixel 9a but with slightly lower performance.
Another standout feature was the alleged 5G connectivity because of the Exynos Modem 5400. This would have positioned the Pixel Tablet 2 in the elite league of tablets that offers high speed mobile connectivity in addition to the GPS feature. However, satellite communication facilities had not been included in the medium.
Improved Camera Systems
The Google Pixel Tablet 2 intended to bring a better and more improved camera function to the user. It was also rumored to be packed with a 10 MP front shooter, upgraded from the 8 MP front camera on the Pixel Tablet, and an 11 MP rear camera with autofocus, a big leap over the 8 MP fixed-focus sensor on the Pixel Tablet. Despite sharing its selfie camera with Pixel 9 Pro Fold, the tablet itself would not have delivered face unlock feature, disappointing some users.
Additional Features and Accessories
The shelved tablet was also rumored to have Display Port output up to 4K standards for integrating it’s with external displays for working or entertainment. Other devices including a keyboard manufactured by Google and a stylus were also said to be in development, which would put Pixel Tablet 2 in the league of competitors for productivity tablets.
Uncertain Future for Google Tablets
As these leaked details present a quite decent device, Pixel Tablet 2 never came to life. Google may still come up with another tablet that will be under the Pixel brand in the future. Until then, leaked specifications become the only teasing look into what might have been quite an interesting product in Google’s hardware portfolio.
