Google Set to Unveil 4 New Smartphones, Including a Game-Changing Foldable Model

Google may be shaking things up when they launch the Pixel 9 series later this year when we could see four individual models, including the one dubbed the Pixel 9 Pro Fold These details come from a “Google insider” who spoke to Android Authority.

According to their source, the four are the base Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, the new Pixel 9 Pro XL, and the aforementioned foldable. Little is known about the individual devices. No specs or features were mentioned in the leak.

You see, the original Pixel Fold was a bit of a disappointment. It's still a solid smartphone, but the Tensor G2 chipset in the Pixel Fold and Pixel 7 series proved to be a dud. Performance is decent but not spectacular, with poor battery life on phones with the Tensor G2. Plus, in our experience, those devices can run exceptionally hot.

The company is also likely to make the “Pixel 9 Pro Fold” available to more markets including India. The “Pro” supporters also suggest that the next-generation Pixel Fold will carry some of the hardware and features of the Pixel 9 Pro smartphone.

The upcoming Pixel Fold smartphone is likely to be powered by the upcoming Tensor G4 chipset, which is expected to power the entire Pixel 9 series. For reference, the first-generation Pixel Fold was powered by a Tensor G2 Chip.

In addition to the next generation of foldable devices, Google is preparing to launch a new compact "Pro" model in the Pixel 9 series. According to news reports, the smaller Pixel 9 Pro will feature the same size display as the vanilla Pixel 9 model.

With a reported screen size of 6.03 inches, the Pixel 9 is said to offer a slightly smaller screen compared to the 6.1-inch display of the Pixel 9 Pro, besides, the phone will measure 152.8 x 71.9 x 8.5mm Reportedly, the thickness is 12 mm including the rear camera bump.

Also, it was previously reported that the Pixel 9 could come with an adaptive touch. The new addition to Google’s flagship device promises to significantly improve the user experience. Adaptive touch can prove to be a very useful feature by changing the sensitivity of the touch screen based on various factors such as environment, user activity, and screen protector availability.

Apart from this, there can be good news for all camera lovers. Earlier rumors suggested that the Pixel 9 could come with a telephoto lens, further improving its photography capabilities. Google will also likely focus on using AI to improve the performance of its cameras, to ensure that the Pixel phones remain top contenders in the world of mobile photography.

Details of the Pixel 9 are expected to be announced at Google’s annual event, Google I/O. The event will be held on May 14 this year.

Conclusion: With the launch of four new smartphones, which include foldable models Google is not only expanding its product range but demonstrating its commitment to be at the forefront of mobile technology.
