After a whole year of anticipation, Google is here with its most awaited developer conference of this year. The Google I/O 2021 will begin on 18th May and end on 20th May. The tech giant had to cancel the meeting last year in the milieu of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, this year’s Google IO will be special since it is a completely virtual presentation, without a huge amphitheater and gleaming audience and one-on-one interactions. The much-expected event will take off on May 18th with a keynote by Sundar Pichai, the CEO at 10.a.m followed by the Developer keynote scheduled at 12:15 p.m.
The event is expected to have several new product announcements. There are not many revelations about the event and content. If you need to get an overview according to Google, “Tune in to find out about how we're furthering our mission to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.” Sounds a bit vague? Well, the company keeps its announcements for the day and lets its audience keep looking forward to it like it usually does.
The initial session in the schedule would be discussing the latest features and enhancements of Google’s products like Android, Google Play, and its web platform. Further, there is going to be a presentation on the latest machine learning and machine intelligence features of Google's. Although the idea about the meeting is not fully available, we can have some easy guesses about the launches and announcements that are going to be a part of the Google developer conference.
If we go back to previous Google IO meetings, they exhibit a pattern of launching much-awaited new Operation Systems. This year too we can expect the release of Android 12 OS considering the official developer preview. We can guess that Google's will release its initial Beta quality according to the preview timeline.
Another major update would be about Google Assistant as noted by several reports. The schedule of the conference mentions a session titled ‘What’s new in Google Assistant. The overview says that since it is the 5th birthday of the assistant, they will dive into product announcement, product vision, and other significant features. According to a Business Insider report, there might also be updates on the Wear OS platform as there are sessions scheduled for Google Smartwatches since there is also a buzz of new hardware releases.
Rumors have been revolving around the internet that Google might unveil some hardware in this year’s I/O. Some of them are the much anticipated Pixel 5A 5G smartphone, and Pixel Buds.
There have been rumors and reports going around since last year that Google might be developing its custom system on chip (SoC) for the Pixel smartphones and Chromebooks that will release in the future. It is also planning to announce anything related to it or at least give a clear direction on this claim? We should wait for a few more hours to find out.
