Google CEO Issues Stark Warning: Anticipates Job Cuts Amidst Industry Shifts in 2024

Google CEO Sundar Pichai told his employees in an internal memo on Wednesday that more employees are expected this year. According to a report from The Verge, Pichai told all Google employees, "We have big goals and we will invest in our biggest priorities this year." Talking about its growth, he said the tech giant has to make tough decisions, “The reality is that these investments  have to make hard choices to build capacity.”

Pichai added that these service cuts won’t be as high as last year’s reductions, and not all segments will be affected. “But I know it’s very hard to see colleagues and teams affected,” he added.

In a memo, Pichai said the layoffs would focus on "removing layers from multiple departments to drive speed within the company, the report added".This reduction in functionality have not last year been reduced, and it doesn't affect any team," he said.
