The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Unraveling the Secrets of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

The successor of the hugely popular game Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom is an adventure game where users can play in the open world of Hyrule, solve puzzles, fight enemies, and discover secrets. The critics have noted that the game has improved on its predecessor and has maintained the same level of thrill, enjoyment, and fun that made the first game beloved—awarded with The Game of Awards for Most Anticipated Game three times in a row, and several other accolades. Let's dig deep into the review of this game.

Open-World Experience

The most exciting and innovative part of Tears of the Kingdom is the insertion of sky islands, underground depths, and redesigned caves. The places have added more depth and reality to our last game's open world, Breath of the Wild. Critics like IGN and VG247 have applauded how these areas have made the world look real, feel big and more engaging.

On the other hand, some critics like Eurogamer have enjoyed exploring Sky Island for its beauty and graphics. Other critics like Video Game Chronicles have found the Depth more thrilling because of its difficulty and mystery. Together all these play an important role in a balanced gameplay.

Gameplay

The gameplay has introduced abilities and powers like Ultrahand, Ascend, and Fuse, allowing players to solve puzzles and overcome challenges. GamesRadar+ and Polygon have praised these powers for offering freedom and flexibility during the gameplay. However, GamesRadar+ has also pointed out that these abilities may feel like cheat codes, reducing the game's thrill and excitement. Apart from everything, these new abilities are widely appreciated as a new experiment in gameplay.

Story

The Tears of Kingdom has delivered a richer and more captivating narrative compared to Breath of the Wild according to Nintendo Life and GameSpot. The story offers a deeper character involvement, more rewarding, and faster pace. However, critics like VG247 have argued that the story took a bit of a slow pace in the gameplay because of the open-world structure. The voice acting in the gameplay has received mixed reviews as some gamers have felt it lacks depth. However, the music and atmosphere of the gameplay have compensated for anything that needed to be improved.

Performance

Nintendo Live and Polygon have shared how the frame rate drops and long load times have come to their attention during gameplay. Despite these issues, IGN and Gamespot have recommended that the game’s creators optimize its visuals so that it works well on ageing technology. Apart from that, the art and graphics have overshadowed any shortcomings.
