If you thought the first season of Kohrra was dark, the second chapter is basically a whole new level of grim. Honestly, it is rare to see a sequel actually live up to the hype, but this one does it easily. Netflix’s haunting police procedural returned this week and the critics are already calling it the “show of the year.” The story follows ASI Amarpal Garundi, played by the brilliant Barun Sobti, who is now working under a new boss, SI Dhanwant, played by Mona Singh. They are hunting a killer after an NRI woman is found dead in her brother's house, but the case is just the tip of the iceberg.

The real beauty of this season is not the murder mystery, but the people involved. Mona Singh is a total tour de force here. She does not need loud dialogues; her body language and tired eyes tell you everything about her character's struggle with an alcoholic husband. Then you have Barun Sobti, who gives a subtle masterclass in acting. His character is hiding his own dark secrets while trying to do his job. The chemistry between these two seasoned cops is electric because it feels so real and grounded. Even the Punjabi dialogues feel natural and easy to follow, even if you do not know the language perfectly.

What is really loved about Kohrra 2 is how it handles violence. It is not just about blood or gore. It is about the "implicit" brutality—the way a mother looks at a bike where her son died, or the silence after a betrayal. The show takes its time to build the atmosphere over six episodes, but it never feels slow or boring. It takes you into this world of broken marriages and estate battles. It reminds us that life is often unfair and we just have to pick up the pieces. If you want a thriller that actually makes you feel something, this is definitely the one to watch.
