Thalapathy Vijay's Son Makes a Social Media Move That Has Fans Talking

The personal life of Tamil superstar and TVK chief Thalapathy Vijay has become the subject of intense public scrutiny, and a single social media action by his son may have just added the most talked-about chapter yet.

Eagle-eyed fans noticed that Jason Sanjay, Vijay's 25-year-old son, reportedly unfollowed his father on Instagram shortly after news of his parents' separation broke online. The move spread rapidly across social media platforms, with fans and observers interpreting it as a quiet but pointed reaction to the unfolding family situation. Some fans, however, have countered that Jason may never have followed his father on the platform to begin with, leaving the actual significance of the alleged unfollow open to debate.

The backdrop to this social media moment is deeply serious. Sangeetha Sornalingam, Vijay's wife of over 25 years, filed a divorce petition before the Chengalpattu District Court, seeking annulment of the marriage under the Special Marriage Act. Though the petition was filed on December 3, 2025, the copy was made available to media only on February 27, 2026, raising questions about its timing ahead of upcoming Tamil Nadu assembly elections. 

In her petition, Sangeetha accused Vijay of having an extramarital relationship with an actress, which she claimed to have discovered in 2021. She has also demanded permanent alimony based on Vijay's income, the right to continue residing in the family home, and has requested that hearings be held in a closed courtroom with the media restrained from publishing case details.

Sangeetha has been living in the UK with their two children, Jason Sanjay and daughter Divya Saasha, while Vijay lives alone in Chennai. Vijay has not issued any public statement on the matter.

The controversy has also sparked political concerns, with observers noting that the divorce case could prove damaging for TVK, with speculation that female voters may distance themselves from the party Vijay founded.
