AI and other disruptive technologies are redefining and providing an accessible education system.

The Covid-19 pandemic made us reimagine the way of providing education through a digital shift. The pandemic taught us how to think outside the four-walled classroom by incorporating technology in education. According to a recent survey by Promethean among a group of American teachers and administrators, 82% revealed that they will be using technology in education over the next 10 years and 43% said they will prioritize tech training.

Blending organic and artificial training is a trending topic in the current scenario. Technologies like artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, etc., have proved beneficial for many industries and ed-tech is one of them. The digital migration induced by the pandemic has led educational institutions to rethink the methods of learning and enhancing them using disruptive technologies.

AI Transforming Learning Strategies

The lack of trust and ethical concerns had stalled the adoption of AI and other techs into the education system. A TOI report from 2019 states how CBSE schools in India launched two facilitators’ handbooks with AI curriculum to integrate AI and technical training in schools

Incorporating AI and machine learning will enhance the quality and accessibility of education. AI will enable customization of education according to the needs of different students and also act as a support for teachers through tutoring videos. Eliminating the conventional one-size-fits-all model education is a necessity for enhancing efficiency among the students. Minimizing the load of administrative tasks is another benefit that educational institutions can leverage from AI and ML. Automating student assessment and grading systems will improve the quality of results.

AR and VR in online classrooms enhance interactivity and engagement without making the classes boring. At least some of us use to sleep during long lectures and later roam around confused about the topic. Artificial intelligence can include videos and visuals to make the classes interesting and advanced techs like VR headsets let students experience and learn.

Accessible Education

Talking about experiential learning, we should not ignore the accessibility issue faced by learners from rural or remote areas with fewer educational facilities. Education should not be capitalized on and it should reach everybody irrespective of privilege, class, caste, and gender. AI and ML help embrace the concept of ‘education for all.  India has been dealing with an educational crisis and ed-tech has been included as a measure to provide better education. The pandemic has encouraged central and different state governments to expand the accessibility of education through digital platforms and by leveraging cutting-edge technologies like AI. We might be at the bottom of the mountain but digging deeper and paving roads using advanced technology will take us to a revolutionary educational system in the coming years.
