Dongfeng releases Smart Cars with AI Tech

Dongfeng Motor Group, a Chinese carmaker, has launched a new brand of smart cars, named Yue Xiang Zhi Neng, which translates to “Sharing Intelligence”. These vehicles facilitate intelligent vehicle control, driving with the help of artificial intelligence technology.

These vehicles have the capability to make autonomous decisions related to vehicle control and driving. They also feature smart cockpits and these can be connected with cloud services, mobile devices and smart homes.

Beside their launch of the smart car brand, Dongfeng has also introduced a new-energy vehicle (NEV) brand. The new-energy vehicle (NEV) brand will focus on battery electric vehicles and extended range powertrains. Dongfend aims to release over 10 models in the next three years to cover the mainstream market.

The company has set their next five-year goals and strategies. This includes releasing 21 proprietary NEV passenger vehicle models and 17 commercial models. They aim to sell more than 1 million proprietary new-energy vehicles by 2025.

Dongfeng's foray into AI-driven vehicles is part of a broader trend in the automotive industry. Other Chinese companies like Nio and Baidu are also making advancements in the field. For instance, Nio introduced a smartphone that can control their vehicles and Baidu's smart car business, known as Apollo, received approval from Chinese authorities to conduct tests of its self-driving vehicles.
