Dell Technologies deepens AI commitment with latest offerings to transform business operations
Dell Technologies has unveiled a line of AI-powered PCs powered by Qualcomm processors. New servers supporting Nvidia’s latest chips will be available from the second half of 2024 onwards.
Dell made those announcements at an event in Las Vegas on Monday, aimed at continuing growth in the lucrative market for artificial intelligence servers and preparing for expected momentum to recover in the PC market this year after a post-pandemic order slowdown.
Its AI-enabled PCs will come with Qualcomm Snapdragon X-series chips with dedicated Neural Processing units (NPUs) for complex application AI tasks.
Two of the five new PCs can be pre-ordered starting Monday, and the rest will be available in the coming months.
It was launched on the same day that Microsoft kicked off its annual build event. The event will unveil the company’s new Surface Pro tablet and Surface Laptop, which are powered by Qualcomm chips based on the Arm architecture.
Improving AI server
On Monday, Dell also announced the latest servers compatible with Nvidia Blackwell chips. The new server also offers water-cooling technology, as opposed to energy-intensive air cooling.
Arthur Lewis, president of the company's infrastructure solutions group, told Reuters in an interview that Dell's Nvidia-based servers are the fastest-growing product in its history. According to research firm International Data Corporation (IDC), spending on AI servers could exceed $33 billion by 2024.
Because the most significant spending comes from smaller companies that are still in the early stages of adopting new technologies, Lewis said Dell doesn’t expect AI investments to hit the company’s spending on traditional servers significantly.
This contrasts with the broader market that has seen uncertain demand for traditional servers as companies prioritize spending on faster AI servers.
Conclusion: Dell Technologies’ deep commitment to AI and the latest offerings shows significant growth in the tech industry. By providing cutting-edge AI solutions, Dell enables businesses to innovate, adapt, and thrive in a data-driven world.
