DataStax Strengthens Portfolio Through Acquisition of Langflow

DataStax, a leading provider of data management solutions for enterprises, today announced the acquisition of Langflow, a new startup developing an open-source platform for building recovery and augmented generation (RAG) applications.

The acquisition is an important milestone in DataStax’s mission to provide businesses with cutting-edge AI capabilities and accelerate the adoption of AI-enabled capabilities in the enterprise.

LogSpace launched in 2022 with a mission to help businesses embrace machine learning. Initially, the company was more of a consultancy than a manufacturing company. Logspace co-founder and CEO Rodrigo Nader previously worked on machine learning problems at enterprise AI company Bitvore, together with co-founder and CTO Gabriel Luiz Freitas Almeida .They founded the company and in 2023, the team founder started Langflow, the first open-source down to build GenAI apps immediately gained some traction as a code/no-code tool.

This acquisition will provide current Langflow developers and current DataStax developers wth new features and integrations to enhance their applications to scale their goals,” said Chet Kapoor, CEO and President of DataStax. “Langflow is focused on democratizing and accelerating the development of generative AI for any developer or company, and together with DataStax, we enable developers to put their wild, new generative AI ideas on a fast track.

The DataStax team notes that this acquisition completes the effort to build a single-action AI stack. Finally, it can now provide users with a tool that connects built-in DataStax connections with Astra DB and tools like the LangChain tool and LlamaIndex that connect data sources, and LlamaIndex for integrating data sources, with an easy-to-use visual editor for creating GenAI chatbots for internal and external use.

Langflow will operate as a separate entity, so existing users may not notice changes immediately.
