Vikrant Massey faces threats over the role in The Sabarmati Report, says ‘It’s Our Job to Tell Stories’

Filmfare Awarded actor Vikrant Massey, recently revealed that he has received threats over his role in his upcoming, The Sabarmati Report. Vikrant stated that he has been receiving these threats owing to the film being based on the infamous Godhra train burning case of 2002. The film, scheduled to hit the theatres on November 15, 2024, is based on the tragedy happening when the Sabarmati Express was set on fire at Godhra in Gujarat tragedy which ignited widespread violence and mayhem across India.

Speaking openly about threats he has received since signing up for the film at the Mumbai trailer launch, Massey hailed his commitment to the role and the mission of the film. “Yes, I have received threats, and more are likely to come,” he said. “But, as artists, we tell stories.” He added, “It's based on facts, you know, and it's something we, as a team, are dealing with together. We will handle it the way it needs to be handled.”

The Sabarmati Report is a drama thriller that showcases the complex layers of the Godhra incident, fittingly portraying the search for truth amidst political and social chaos. Massey portrays the role of a journalist investigating the incident, with Raashii Khanna and Riddhi Dogra playing key roles in this drama thriller. From the director Dheeraj Sarna and producers Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, Amul V Mohan, and Anshul Mohan, comes a movie promising a gripping view into one of India's most sensitive modern events.

According to the filmmakers, The Sabarmati Report is based on fact, and they are hoping will bring a more nuanced view of the whole thing and its aftermath.
