Talking about her past experiences, Charlotte recalls her days as a hairstylist and beauty salon manager. She fulfilled those roles for over 21 years for Regis Corporation. She states that the billion-dollar beauty industry leadership experience has helped her become a successful leader in her own businesses.
Turning Challenges into Milestones
“My biggest roadblock has been people putting me down and wanting me to go back to my 9-5, not being supportive”, said Charlotte. Many of the people who brought Charlotte down were family and friends that didn’t think she would be a successful entrepreneur. Charlotte focused on the diamond amidst the lumps of coal and decided to go after her dreams with determination.
As a little girl, Charlotte was always fascinated by hairstyling and having her own business. She went to cosmetology school, got her license, and worked her way up the corporate ladder as a beauty salon manager. After a decade of being in the beauty industry, Charlotte got diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome. “After I got diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome, my doctor told me I needed to change my career because after working more than 40 hours a week, I would never be able to perform at my best anymore”, recollecting this troublesome period of her life, Charlotte explains how she was determined to use her corporate skills and talents to impact other people lives. Since she coached and mentored hairstylists in the industry, she decided to start her own business from home coaching, consulting, and mentoring women. Her clients started having so much success that Charlotte was able to replace her corporate income.
A Leader’s Advice to Other Leaders
Being a self-made leader herself, Charlotte’s pointers for CEOs start with dressing for success. Talking from a women’s point of view, she explains the plight of women who work from home and how they get used to wearing sweatpants and T-shirts to the office. Charlotte believes that dressing for the job, instantly changes the mindset. Her second advice to CEOs is to have a winning mindset. She explains how too many would-be entrepreneurs operate with a scarcity mindset rather than approaching business from a place of abundance. Rather than thinking about the negatives, reframing thoughts towards the positives will build a strong mindset. Charlotte strongly believes that by reformatting one’s thoughts, that person can turn that negative money talk into positive solutions.
Critical Role of Technology
According to Charlotte, technology is helping companies reach more people globally, because of the internet and social media apps example Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Charlotte and her clients have grown their businesses using all three technologies, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big data, along with email marketing. To accelerate the innovation process, Charlotte ensures she asks her teams and clients if they’re struggling at any point and offers them help by creating solutions and services to help them.
Charlotte’s Prediction for the Future
Talking about her company Wealthy Women Inner Circle, Charlotte says, “I see us continuing to scale globally. I see our future helping more women accomplish their dreams, I see us helping more women have more time freedom and becoming wealthy in all areas of their lives.” Charlotte also feels that the future of the industry, overall, depends on the future leaders. To them, she suggests that they convert their fears into positive energy, and ditch all that negative self-talk. Charlotte asserts that negative self-talk not only drains energy, but it also demotivates them. To overcome this, she states that people need to start replacing all that negative self-talk with positive ones. “Replace your “I can’t do this” with “I am prepared and focused.”
