LinkedIn Levels Up Entering the Gaming Arena!

LinkedIn, developed by Microsoft, is a professional networking platform that boasts more than 1 billion users engaged in gaming. The platform is looking to capitalize on the popularity of puzzle games to increase user engagement.

The code snippets found by app researcher Nima Owji suggest that LinkedIn is looking for a unique feature where players' scores are tied to their workplaces, resulting in a "ranking" of companies based on these scores

However, a LinkedIn spokesperson clarified that the photos shared by the researchers were not recent.

BREAKING: #LinkedIn is working on IN-APP GAMES!

There are going to be a few different games and companies will be ranked in the games based on the scores of their employees!

Pretty cool and fun, in my opinion!

As TechCrunch reported, LinkedIn is currently developing three puzzle-based games titled "Queens," "Inference," and "Crossclimb." While no specific launch date has yet been announced, a LinkedIn spokesperson confirmed the development, saying, "We're playing with adding puzzle-based games within the LinkedIn experience to unlock a bit of fun, deepen relationships, and hopefully spark the opportunity for conversations. Stay tuned for more!"

Other platforms connecting games

Other non-gaming programs have already begun to incorporate casual gaming into their offerings, making LinkedIn not a leader in this effort. An example of this trend can be seen in the New York Times acquisition of Wordle in 2022, which quickly became very popular and amassed millions of active players by the end of the year, and included a comprehensive platform offering the game of the game.

However, not all attempts at gaming through non-gaming devices have been equally successful. Known as the world's largest social network and an important player in social gaming, Facebook decided to shut down its standalone gaming app due to an apparent decline in usage and engagement in the year 2022. On the contrary, Google had earlier shut down its cloud gaming platform with Stadia rekindling its interest in gaming after its launch.

Conclusion: As LinkedIn continues to roll out its gaming features and programs, users can expect engaging and rich experiences beyond the boundaries of traditional networks. Whether you’re a professional who you skilled or recently graduated, the realm of LinkedIn gaming offers an alternative for personal and professional development, all having fun along the way.
