BlackBerry's new generative AI platform boosts cybersecurity
BlackBerry Limited announced the launch of its new Generative AI-powered assistant for Security Operations Centre (SOC) personnel. The enterprise-grade system serves as a SOC Analyst, delivering cyber threat analysis and assistance based on Generative AI to improve CISO operations. It makes use of private large language models (LLMs) to improve accuracy and data privacy.
The technology, which will be accessible to BlackBerry's Cylance AI clients, anticipates customer demands to give information proactively rather than needing users to ask queries manually and reduces research hours into seconds. It is fully integrated into the Cylance Console and results in a natural workflow rather than an inefficient chatbot experience. Cylance was the first AI cybersecurity solution and the first predictive cybersecurity solution in the industry. Predictive cybersecurity is essential for developing cyber hazards and is considered the future of cybersecurity.
"BlackBerry pioneered the AI cybersecurity market, and our commitment to innovation means we are once again at the forefront of the industry as we unveil our Generative AI-powered cybersecurity assistant," said Nathan Jenniges, SVP & GM Spark, BlackBerry's Cybersecurity Business Unit. "With this new solution, our customers will be able to modernise their SOC operations, allowing them to stay one step ahead of the adversary." It will be extremely useful to CISOs in tackling issues such as a shifting threat landscape and resource restrictions."
BlackBerry has been delivering disruptive innovation for almost four decades and continues to set the bar in the technology sector. In the realm of artificial intelligence, this is demonstrated by the firm having more than five times the number of AI/ML patents as rivals and AI being integrated across the company's product line. Furthermore, BlackBerry was one of the first signatories to Canada's voluntary Code of Conduct on the appropriate development and administration of advanced Generative AI systems earlier this month.
"Generative AI has the potential to deliver tremendous economic value, so BlackBerry is focusing on it." "Our patent portfolio already includes Generative AI," stated BlackBerry Chief Technology Officer Charles Eagan. "Throughout our innovations, we take our commitment to delivering enterprise-grade solutions seriously - innovations that deliver value rather than react to hype - as demonstrated by today's announcement and our being one of the first signatories of Canada's voluntary Generative AI Code of Conduct."
BlackBerry's Generative AI-powered cybersecurity assistant will be initially offered to a limited number of clients.
