Nissan Motor India has officially launched its high-stakes 'year of resurgence' with the launch of the Gravite MPV, a seven-seater designed to breathe new life into the brand's domestic presence. Gravite boasts an aggressive introductory price of Rs. 5.65 lakh. It is also the first of four new models slated for release within the next 12 months.

This product blitz, backed by a significant joint investment with Renault, marks Nissan's transition to a multi-segment manufacturing. Reportedly, the company aims to triple its domestic sales to 95,000 units annually by 2026.

A New Anchor for the Family Segment

The Gravite targets value-conscious families seeking premium features. It is built on the same platform as the Renault Triber but looks different. The SUV has a new front grille featuring prominent 'GRAVITE' lettering. The cabin features an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen and a digital instrument cluster. Every row of seats has its own air conditioning vents.

Prices for the Gravite range up to Rs. 8.93 lakh. Nissan is also offering free service for five years to the first 5,000 buyers. This strategy bolsters Nissan's competitiveness against market leaders like Maruti Suzuki.

What is the Real Timeline for Nissan’s Upcoming SUV Blitz?

The Gravite has already arrived at dealerships nationwide. Market anticipation is now building for the next three SUVs to arrive. The Nissan Tekton C-SUV is a rival for the Hyundai Creta. It will likely be set for its global debut in late February 2026. After that, a 7-seater version is slated for release.

Nissan and Renault are spending Rs. 5,300 crore on these new projects. They also plan to make two small electric cars. According to Autocar Professional: "Nissan India expects to surpass 100,000 vehicle exports from the country in the next financial year... marking India's growing role as a global export hub for the Japanese carmaker."

This plan helps Nissan optimize capacity utilization at its Chennai manufacturing facility. Making cars for other countries helps keep the business strong in India.

Nissan's future in India depends on the successful execution of this product offensive. For a long time, the company only sold the Magnite, but by 2027, it will sell a wide range of cars. The success of the Gravite is an important first step for Nissan. By prioritizing after-sales service and competitive pricing, the brand is well-positioned to recapture market share.
