Maruti Suzuki is preparing to showcase its first-ever electric SUV, Maruti e-Vitara, while two of the most popular Tata SUVs will feature a new powertrain option. Additionally, the new-gen Kia Seltos is all set to make its global debut. Explore the launch details and advanced features of these highly anticipated cars.

India's First Mass-Market Electric SUV 

Maruti Suzuki is launching its first electric car in India. The much-anticipated e-Vitara electric SUV is arriving on 2 December 2025. This launch marks a major milestone for India's largest automaker in entering the electric vehicle market. 

e-Vitara will introduce the brand's updated EV-specific design language to consumers. It is based on a lightweight 3-in-1 electric drive system that integrates key components. Two battery pack options are expected: a 49kWh standard range and a larger 61kWh long-range pack. The larger pack is claimed to deliver a range of over 500km.

e-Vitara is positioned as a strong contender in the mass-market EV space. It may feature a dual-screen layout with a 10.25-inch infotainment system. The safety kit can include 6 airbags and Level-2 ADAS, making it technologically advanced.

Petrol Power Expands Tata's Flagship SUV Lineup

Tata Motors will be expanding its flagship SUV line-up on 9 December 2025. Harrier and Safari, the diesel-only models, will receive new turbo-petrol variants. This introduction will significantly increase the appeal of both SUVs.

The new engine is Tata's latest 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit, first debuting on Sierra. This powertrain is expected to produce 160PS of power and 255Nm of torque, while transmission choices are likely to include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The petrol variants are expected to be priced lower than their diesel counterparts.

Global Debut of New-gen Kia Seltos

The new-generation Kia Seltos is set for its global debut on 10 December 2025, and it will mark the most comprehensive update for the SUV since its initial launch. The 2026 Seltos is expected to receive major design updates. Spy shots have revealed a sharper, more upright stance with a boxier SUV silhouette. Its design is inspired by the look of larger Kia SUVs.

On the outside, a larger, squared-off grille and new LED lighting elements are also expected. The new model will likely feature a reworked dashboard with a sleeker layout. Engine options may include the familiar petrol, turbo-petrol, and diesel units.
